REFLECTIONS ON INDEPENDENCE

REFLECTIONS ON INDEPENDENCE

The staff at James Rowe Plumbing is anxious to take a planned long weekend for July 4th, with “planned” always taken with a grain of salt. In this business, you can plan a holiday all you want, but truth is, when customers need us, we’re there for them, 24/7, 365 days a year – including Independence Day.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t reflect on the advantages we hold dear in this great country of ours, and how much we cherish owning and operating a small business.

'Independence' means having the ability to run our business with the values that are important to my husband James and me. Those values include fairness, integrity, and honesty. We try to execute these values in our business every day, and also instill the importance of these values in our employees. The independence that we have in this great country gave us the opportunity to open a business and operate it with greater integrity than other plumbing operations that we were seeing first-hand. I will never forget; James once told me about a plumber he overheard talking at a supply store. This man was bragging about an older lady he oversold parts and services too. James also heard several speak about purposefully not carrying many parts on-hand, so they would be able to charge customers for a return trip. Hearing about these conversations and people disgusted me, and made me really want to provide honest dealings and quality work for our community. Our customers are moms, dads, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles and grandparents. And even if we’re not directly related to them by blood, it’s still up to us to treat every customer as a brother or sister, a neighbor and friend.

Thanks to the independence we have in this country, we have the opportunity to serve any and all who need our services. And if you need a plumber over a holiday weekend, well, that’s when you really know who your friends are! We hope you’ll consider James Rowe Plumbing to be among your friends.

Have a safe and memorable Independence Day weekend! And God bless America.
